My father has been suffering fro ANCA mediated crescentic glomerulous nephritis with serum creatinine 5.5 mg/dl, with protenuria and haematuria, after treatment with cyclophosphamide and prednisolone since May 20,2014,now his serum creatinine is 1.7mg/dl,how long he will have to keep continue the treatment, will he recover fully, please answer me.
Hello,

It is reassuring he has had a response to the initial medication. He might not have complete recovery of kidney function but could persist at that level for a very long time. He likely will require a change to maintenance medication at about 6 months (though protocols vary). One likely option will be continuing on lower dose prednisone and imuran. Treatment could be continued for 1-2 years though many of my patients stay on maintenance medication of some kind, at low dosage, indefinitely.
