Protein in urine (18 years old)

I am 18 years old (Asian-Indian) and just got routine blood and urine testing done as I am starting college this fall. I am a bit concerned since my urine test came back with a positive test for albumin/protein (21-29 mg/dl), there are also pus cells detected (2-4 /hpf). Other parameters were Colour: Yellow and specific gravity 1030.
My blood work (KFT) shows the following -
Blood Urea: 32.3 mg/dl
Serum Creatinine: 0.88 mg/dl
Serum Uric Acid: 5.10 mg/dl
Serum Calcium: 9.17 mg/dl
Serum Inorganic Phosphorous: 4.74 mg/dl
Serum Sodium: 145 mEq/L
Serum Potassium: 4.6 mEq/L
Serum Chloride: 103 mEq/L

Feeling concerned with the positive test for protein. What would you advise in terms of follow-up for the above, if any.

It would appear that you have a very minimal amount of protein in the urine. Furthermore, it might not actually be real. Because it was a concentration only, it may be falsely elevated by a having a non dilute urine. To clarify this, you should have an albumin (or protein) to creatinine ratio done OR a 24 hr urine to measure the total protein, Once those are performed, you will know if this is even a real finding and how large the quantity is above normal. As well, given the pus cells, you should have a urine culture done as infections can also raise the urinary protein in a spurious way. For now, there is no cause for panic.
