60 Y WF with CKD 5, DM, HTN, Nephrotic, eGFR 14, S/P Upper Extremity AVF 6 weeks, Had PMH of Idiopathic Pulmonary HTN.What is the role of AVF Physiology as a shunt in worsening Pulmonary HTN?

Hello,

A high volume fistula may well cause worsening pulmonary hypertension in my opinion. Not to say that this risk outweighs the benefit of a fistula over a catheter. But the volume of the fistula flow may well become an issue necessitating revision if it becomes too large. Interesting question.
