I’m a 58 year old female with an eGFR of 57(creatinine level 1.0. I have controlled high blood pressure. Should I be concerned.
Hello,

  • Do you have any protein in your urine (do you know your albumin to creatinine ratio)?
  • Do you have any other health conditions?
  • What medications do you take?

I have never been checked for protein in urine. I have controlled blood pressure with lisinipril. Wellbutrin, for depression/anxiety. Baby aspirin, CoQ10, and omega 3. I was also fasting when I had my blood drawn, though I did drink 16 to 20 oz. of water shortly before my blood test.

Hello,

If your kidney function is stable at this level and if your urinary protein levels are normal (or only minimally elevated), and provided no other systemic disease is present, then this level of kidney function at your age and while taking an ACE inhibitor is not unexpected. If all of the above is true, then your risk of progressive loss of kidney function is low.

I can only base my opinion on the information provided and your health-care provider might arrive at different conclusions once you have provided an entire history and had a physical examination performed. As always, this forum provides general medical information only and is limited to educational use only. Please discuss the above remarks with your health-care provider.
