Oral glucocorticoid schedules from the PEXIVAS trial in severe ANCA-associated vasculitis. Both followed intravenous methylprednisolone, and the starting dose is set by weight band. The reduced schedule was non-inferior to the standard schedule for death or end-stage kidney disease, with fewer serious infections in the first year. Neither schedule adjusts for relapse, infection or renal function, and the trial schedule ends at week 52. Doses are given as prednisolone; prednisone is used milligram for milligram.
