I have been experiencing this constant urge to urinate. No pain, no burning, just feeling I need to go. This happen 2 years ago and many tests were done. Urine showed trace blood and trace leukocytes. CT scan without contrast and cystoscopy. Was told nothing wrong. Feeling eventually went away and now have that constant urge to urinate again. This time urine showed trace leukocytes, trace blood and trace protein. No infection again! My last blood test was November or 2017 and all was normal and GFR was normal. Do I need these test redone and should I be more concerned. My doctor thinks it is overactive bladder but I am concerned about the urine test. I am 47 year old with no family history of kidney/bladder problems. Any advice would be helpful!

The CT scan without contrast and cystoscopy was done almost 2 years ago. I don't believe my urinary protein was checked but at that time there was no protein in urine on dipstick, this was a new finding this time around. but GFR was normal last checked in November 2017. The only thing the CT scan said in 2017 regarding kidney was that the right upper pole appeared to be lobulated. The urologist I saw did not seem concerned with that. The trace blood has been on urine dipstick the last three times and this time trace protein and trace leukocytes. I follow up with urologist this week , but wanted other opinoins.
It sounds like you have nothing to be concerned about. If the CT and cystscopy were normal and if your urinary protein and eGFR are normal with no evidence of infection, I would say that an irritable bladder is certainly a reasonable cause of your urgency. One would not expect blood or protein in the urine from a an irritable bladder however.
