I was told at the ER today that after a ct scan a lesion was found my left kidney. I was having the ct scan for unrelated gastro symptoms which came back clear. The ER doc told me they’re common and doesn’t mean I have cancer. But I’m worried sick, is this really a common thing? I’m not having any bloody urine or persistent pain or any of the “symptoms”.
This sounds like it is a benign cyst but should be confirmed with an ultrasound of the affected area.

I don’t have the cat scan but this is what it said on my papers.

“Kidneys are without hydronephrosis. There is a 6 mm low-density lesion upper pole LEFT KIDNEY image 27 which is incompletely characterized”
Hello,

Benign lesion such as cysts and angiomyolipomas are often seen incidentally when scans are done for other reasons. It is very possible that this is a completely benign finding. However, I would need to see the wording of the CAT scan report to know for sure.
