Hello,

Itching in patients on dialysis is challenging. Every patient should of course be optimized in terms of dialysis dose and hyperparathyroidism. We usually begin therapy in this order:

  1. Topical emollients (especially if dry skin is present)
  2. Antihistamines
  3. Low-dose gabapentin (100 to 300 mg given postdialysis)
  4. UV light therapy
