Interesting how first TNT, now PLANET-1, PLANET-2 are all suggesting atorvastatin may be considerably *more* reno-protective than other statins. (Perhaps related to TGF-b1 inhibition?) Other statin trials for CKD less dramatic, but also were not atorva.

Regardless of precise mechanism, stabilizing GFR loss to 1-2 ml/mn/yr is quite remarkable--on par with the most aggressive RAAS strategies with perhaps fewer risks.
